Excerpt from an article by The Tire Rack...
Does your vehicle use wide, low profile or flotation-sized tires? If you’re going to drive through lots of snow this year, you’ll want your winter/snow tires and wheels in sizes that help put the laws of physics on your side. Narrower tires slice through deep snow more easily than a wider tire, which encounters more resistance as it “plows” a path through the snow.
OPTIONS TO CONSIDER:
• Select a narrow winter tire for your vehicle
• Use the optional tire/wheel size from your vehicle’s base model
• Substitute a tire/wheel by using “minus sizing”
